## Connections

People gives each player a public display name (up to 32 characters) and a
connection code. Another player can send a connection request with that code,
or from the list of recent chess opponents. A request becomes a connection only
when the other player accepts it, and repeated or crossed requests never accept
it automatically. Your account email is not shown on your public profile.

Recent opponents are recorded only for chess, after a legal move between two
signed-in players. Anonymous players are not saved.

Accepted connections can exchange game invitations. Removing a connection or
blocking someone stops further social access between you.

## Invitations and room codes

An invitation is a request tied to a connection and a game, and it expires
after 15 minutes. Chess and Pong support invitations; Hearts does not yet. Only
the recipient can accept, and once accepted the invitation resolves the game
room for both players. The normal game access check still applies when sending,
accepting, or launching.

Multiplayer room codes are a separate way to join. Invitations do not make
those rooms private, and blocking someone does not evict a player who already
holds a seat and a game token.

## Identity

Hosted identity uses Patreon. Private test servers and self-hosted servers can
enable [guest access](/docs/finder-mode/guest-access), and per-user authorization
still applies. Neither identity mode changes FileDOM's rendering API.
